Thailand Ministry

We’ve been to Thailand on numerous occasions, mainly to help the girls home celebrate Christmas, and each time we learn more and more about the Thai people. There is such a dichotomy in their culture–they are such a gentle and polite people, yet they tolerate such abhorrent practices, like selling their children. Poverty can make people desperate. And an ingrained and generational concept of women as a commodity is difficult to break.
There are many children homes who are fighting to break this cycle of poverty and to end the “commodity” status of girls. Education is the key. The home we support is now home to over 100 girls ranging in age from 5 to 23. They are cared for, given a safe environment in which to grow, educated as far as they wish to go, and taught life skills so when they leave, they can provide for themselves.
Recently, four of the young women graduated from law school!! What a glorious celebration that was! Many of the girls receive degrees as educators, nurses, accountants, cooks, with many of them returning to their home villages to make a difference by supporting and encouraging the next generation. Most are Christian women who are poised raise the next generation with a completely new set of values–the values of Jesus Christ! They have been given much and see it as their privilege to give back to their home communities.
Those who choose to live in the cities can now provide for themselves though their jobs. It is so exciting to see self-confident young women instead of abused victims of a horrible fate.
We now have a Christian son-in-law who will begin his first pastorate in his home village. Kai (son) and Kwan (daughter) will need many prayers as they begin their ministry and we ask you to pray for them. Pray that God will give them wisdom and discernment and they minister to the A’kha people and re-birth the church in their home village. Click here to learn more about their ministry.
Please consider supporting their ministry with your finances as well as your prayers. Just click their picture to make a specific donation to the work in Thailand. Thanks in advance for your generosity!
